Common House

Our 3800 square-foot Common House is attached to the atrium, intentionally located in the center of our neighborhood.  It includes a large kitchen and dining area, a living room with library, a kids’ room, two guest rooms, and a laundry room.  In normal times, we have optional shared dinners 2-3 times per week.

The Common House is the heart of the community — where we share some (optional) meals (pre-pandemic), relax, and meet in groups of all sizes for spontaneous or planned coffee klatches, games, knitting or book groups, slide shows, movies, music nights, parties, dancing, etc.  There’s often a puzzle in the works on an out-of-the-way table.

When Covid is a concern and the weather is good, we eat outdoors on the patio, with pop-up tents to protect from sun or rain.

Below is a photo from a holiday meal to which we invited friends or family from outside the neighborhood. It’s not usually so crowded, but when needed, we can seat a lot of people.

The kids’ room is changed now and then, sometimes to better accommodate kids of different ages. Here is one version:

Using the Common House laundry room is optional; all units come with hook-ups for washers and dryers.

The Common House is available for residents to use at all times, unless a resident has reserved the kitchen / dining / living room for a private event.
